Analysis of solid samples and heterogeneous samples by UV-Vis and UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopies is possible with suitable sample accessories.

In this webinar, experts from Agilent and Specac will demonstrate how the Cary UV-Vis-NIR system can analyze a range of samples, from liquids to powders, films, pellets, and highly scattering solids.

Illustrated with real examples, we will show how diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and remote sampling with fiber optic probes can be used for bandgap determination, optical property characterization, photocatalysis research, and in situ reaction monitoring.

We will highlight the Harrick Praying Mantis for operando reaction monitoring and the FiberMate2 for remote studies in more complex experimental set ups.

Over 7 years, I honed my skills in technical and application support, focusing on Raman spectroscopy, before joining Agilent end of 2024, where I now help customers navigate the world of molecular spectroscopy (UV/Vis/NIR, FTIR and Raman). My mission: turn complex analytical problems into clear, effective solutions—with a dash of fun whenever possible!

Presenter: Bisirat Araya (Applications Scientist, SPECAC LTD)

Bisirat holds a B.A. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan University and is an Applications Scientist at Specac-Harrick with over 12 years of experience at Specac and Harrick Scientific. She specialises in technical customer support, sample evaluations, equipment setup, and technical documentation.

Bisirat collaborates with customers to optimise equipment performance and works with applications and engineering teams to develop new products.
