Join us for a free webinar on Analysis of Inositol Stereoisomer Profiling in Dietary Supplements and Foods

Inositol plays a key role in regulating numerous metabolic pathways and hormonal signaling processes. Maintaining a balanced profile of inositol stereoisomers in the human body is critical for supporting key biological functions and may help reduce the risk of certain health disorders. The aim of this webinar is to present analytical procedures capable of simultaneously separating and quantifying free inositol stereoisomers in both simple matrices, such as dietary supplements, and complex matrices, such as milk, cereal, and infant formula. An existing Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography (HILIC) protocol was systematically optimized to achieve adequate resolution and reliable separation of seven inositol stereoisomers (allo-, muco-, epi-, D-chiro-, neo-, myo-, and scyllo-inositol) using a UPLC™ BEH™ Amide Column. Two different sample preparation procedures and two mass spectrometry (MS) techniques (ACQUITY™ QDa™ II Mass Detector and Xevo™ TQ-S cronos Mass Spectrometer) were developed for the analysis of the simple and complex matrices, respectively. Details of method development and analytical performance will be discussed.

Presenter: Jinchuan Yang, Ph.D. (Principal Scientist, Waters Corporation)
