Presenter: Jonathan Pratt (Senior Vice President, Waters Division)

Jonathan Pratt was named Senior Vice President of the Waters Division of Waters Corporation in 2021, responsible for liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments, consumables, informatics, sales, marketing, and services. He oversees the cross-functional collaboration of the R&D and commercial teams as well as overall global strategic planning and upholding the company vision.

Jonathan previously served as Senior Vice President of TA Instruments at Waters from 2019 to 2021. Prior to joining Waters, Jonathan was President of Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, where he spearheaded efforts that drove improved operating profit and revenue growth both organically and through acquisitions. In addition, he held senior positions at Danaher Corporation and at Pall Corporation, where he was President of its Food & Beverage, Laboratory and ForteBio businesses.

Jonathan also serves on the Board of SPX FLOW, Inc. as an independent director and a member of the Audit, Compensation, and Nominating & Governance Committees. He holds a B.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Reading, UK, and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Presenter: Fabrice Gritti (Principal Consulting Scientist, Waters Corporation)

Fabrice G. Gritti received a B.S. degree in Chemistry and Physics from the University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble (France) in 1995, a Graduate Engineering School degree in Chemistry and Physics from the University of Bordeaux I (France) in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Physics of Condensed Matter from the University of Bordeaux I (France) in 2001. He came in the U.S. in 2002 for a post-doctoral visit at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, TN) in the research group of Prof. Georges Guiochon. He worked there as a Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry until 2014. In 2015, he joined Waters Corporation as a principal research scientist in the Instrument/Core research/Fundamental department. In 2019, he became principal consulting scientist in the same institution.

Dr. Gritti’s research interests involve liquid/solid adsorption thermodynamics and mass transfer in heterogeneous media for characterization and design optimization of new liquid chromatography columns/instrument technologies. He developed experimental protocols that helped (1) refine the models of adsorption isotherms used in preparative chromatography for the prediction of the band profiles of neutral and ionizable compounds, (2) complete the theory of band broadening along modern analytical columns in linear chromatography, and (3) reshape columns and instruments to maximize performance and sensitivity in the field of separation science by liquid and supercritical fluid chromatography.

Dr. Gritti has been invited to give 30 seminars, workshops, or tutorials on general chromatographic sciences at universities, discussion groups, or at international meetings. He has delivered over 90 invited keynote lectures at international Symposia and published over 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Dr. Gritti was the recipient of the 2013 Chromatographic Society Jubilee Medal and of the 2019 JFK Huber Lecture Award presented by the Austrian Society of Analytical Chemistry for his important contribution to the development of chromatographic science.

Presenter: Dr. Jason Dyke (Principal Consulting Evaluation Scientist, Waters Corporation)

Jason Dyke graduated Texas Tech University with a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and joined Waters in 2010 as a field application scientist. During that time, Jason worked directly with Waters’ customers in the field, providing training and application support for LC-MS systems. In 2014, Jason joined the Systems Evaluation group and is currently one of the department managers. Jason and his team are responsible for the evaluation of all new LC products to ensure that they meet the user’s requirements and needs.

Presenter: Douglas R. McCabe (Senior Director of Chemistry Marketing and Product Management, Waters Corporation)

Douglas R. McCabe is the Senior Director of Chemistry Marketing and Product Management in the Chemistry Technology Center of Waters Corporation. Doug directs a group of marketing and product management professionals who have worldwide responsibility for all Waters consumables products. Doug has been with Waters since 2001 and has been involved in UPLC technology since its inception in 2004. Throughout his career at Waters, he has been instrumental in defining, developing, and commercializing new products that enable successful chromatographic separations. Prior to joining Waters, Mr. McCabe was Applications Manager and Product Manager at ESA, Inc., where he developed HPLC methods and applications and provided technical support for the entire corporate portfolio of HPLC systems and components. Doug has more than twenty-five years of experience in the field of liquid chromatography. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh (Plattsburgh, NY, USA) and his M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire (Durham, NH, USA).
