BioCeV - Career
Laboratory of Structural Biology and Cell Signaling consists of a multidisciplinary team whose thematic focus is divided into two main directions. Structural biology group produces proteins by recombinant expression technologies and characterizes the protein or protein-ligand structures and their dynamics utilizing advanced mass spectrometric techniques. Cell signaling unit examines the linkages of cellular signaling to the metabolism of cancer cells using molecular biology and biochemistry methods. Through the collaboration of the two groups a unique research platform is formed, wherein the results obtained by the study of biological systems can also be verified and explained at the molecular level. Laboratory is located at the BIOCEV center in Vestec.
PhD candidates wanted
The Laboratory of Structural Biology and Cell Signaling is seeking candidates (m/f/o) for a PhD position in the field of clinical biochemistry, microbiology, and analytical chemistry. Our experienced and friendly research group is located in the modern and state-of-the-art-equipped BIOCEV center in Vestec near Prague. We are offering a PhD position fully funded by the Czech Ministry of Health through the AZV project NW24-09-00464 (2024-2027).
The goal of this research project is enhancing the effectiveness of antibiotic treatment. The research activity involves mainly method development for the clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases, with a special focus on detecting antibiotic resistance using advanced mass spectrometry techniques performed on variety of mass spectrometers (ESI-QTOF, MALDI/ESI FT-ICR, MALDI-TOF). Different affinity approaches including our own protein chip arrays will be utilized to achieve the project goals.
