Product Evaluation Scientist

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with the testing of hardware and software platforms as part of a team to assess design functionality and performance, contributing to Thermo Fisher Scientific's new product development
- Contribute to the creation of well-defined requirements for new product development
- Collaborate with development and validation groups to create, complete and document verification and validation activities
- Filling, tracking, and updating of test cases and bug reports in data bases.
- Assist in the characterization of newly developed instrument
- Ensure product knowledge flows seamlessly to product management and product support teams.
- Additional responsibilities as delegated.
Required Qualifications
Keys to Success
- University degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biology, related science, or equivalent education and work experience
- We're looking for an excellent teammate with strong analytical skills and a passion for innovation to join our multi-national, multi-disciplinary team developing ground breaking mass spectrometric instrumentation.
- Programming skills in a major programming or scripting language is a plus
- Knowledge of software testing techniques would be beneficial
- Ability to clearly express your thoughts and communicate openly with other team members
Experience
- Experience on separation techniques: HPLC, nLC, uLC, GC, CE with MS detection;
- Solid hands on knowledge of both LC and MS instrumentation. Comfortable discussing the components of a mass spectrometer, aspects of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometer ionization sources and their impact on design or application performance
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of Proteomics, Lipidomics, Pharma/Biopharma, Clinical or Food & Environmental analytical industries
- Experience with product verification and validation testing to confirm specifications and product performance would be a plus
- High degree of self-motivation with the ability to learn instrumental techniques
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of spectroscopy and process monitoring and integration.
- Ability to develop high levels of credibility and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to understand the financial aspects of large scale, multi-year contracting.
- Well versed in value selling techniques.
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to operate remotely while meeting / exceeding operational objectives.
- High level of IT skills/digital literacy
- Proficient in English
- Ability to travel up to 20% globally
