Presenter: Victoria Starkie (Principal Product Marketing Manager Mass Spectrometry, Waters Corporation)
Vicky Starkie graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) with a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Chemistry. Vicky studied part-time to gain her qualifications whilst working in industry resulting in over 25 years’ experience in a range of analytical techniques.
Vicky started her career as a technician in a small contract research organisation (CRO) where she gained experience in developing HPLC methods and working to GLP. Vicky later joined AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as a DMPK scientist where she gained experience using LC-MS/MS for bioanalysis in both Discovery and Development, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetic studies. Following her love of Mass Spectrometry Vicky then moved into a toxicology role managing a workplace and medico legal laboratory specialising in hair analysis by LC-MS/MS and gained ISO 17025 accreditation.
For the last 8 years Vicky has been working at Waters in a variety of roles supporting Clinical Diagnostic and Forensic Toxicology customers providing pre and post-sales application support. In January 2021 Vicky joined the product management and marketing team and is passionate about developing LC-MS/MS solutions that support the future needs of Clinical customers.
Presenter: Robert Wardle (Senior Scientist, Clinical Scientific Operations, Waters Corporation)
Robert Wardle is currently a Senior Scientist employed at Waters Corporation in Wilmslow, UK, performing research and development of applications and products for Clinical Research. His primary area of research is vitamins and in particular vitamin D metabolites, steroid hormones and in-depth knowledge of offline and online automation.
Robert joined Waters in 2010 as a Clinical Validation Scientist, playing a key role in verification activities for the MassTrak XE Immunosuppressants kit available in the EU. He moved into his current role as a Senior Scientist in 2013, where he developed methods for a range of applications including vitamin D metabolites, estrogens and a large panel of steroid hormones, where he also looked at the complete LC-MS/MS workflow of these application areas through offline automation.
